The pictures should give you a few clues as to what 'kind' of baby we are having..
This is my first knitted sweater, and first two pairs of socks. The socks were actually much easier than expected, but that might have something to do with being 2 needle ones that get seamed. I'm hopeful that I can tackle a 'real' pair next since the construction of the heel is pretty similar.
After finishing this hat and socks, I'm pretty sure they aren't even going to fit this little one. My kids aren't know for having small, or even normal, sized heads. In fact, B didn't even fit into his going home outfit and his Nana had to quick dig out and wash some bigger clothes so he could come home. You just never know, maybe we'll have a littler one this time. If not, there are plenty of other babies coming to pass them on to!
This will also be my first quilt. The top is actually further along the picture shows, it's been all cut, pinned and is about 1/3 of the way sewed. The pattern is pretty basic one that's been made up as it goes along but I'm pretty happy with it so far! The current dilemma is how to finish it- since we'll hopefully have mostly warm weather when it's needed my thought is to not do any batting and do a self-binding back. Hmm.
Hope you are all doing something fun-the cupboards and closets are also getting cleaned out around here which feels awesome this time of year! I believe the thrifty load count is somewhere around 4. Yahoo!

FO's
Or, for you non-knitting blog readers, Finished Offs. I forgot to take any pictures of the Christmas gifts I was working on, oops. Actually I still have two left to get done, since I was flat on the couch all last week. Put it on my unreliable mental list to take pictures of them, since they were all variations of each other... But here's two that I knitted. They were both really easy and quick, seriously only took me about 2 hours each. And I am NOT what you call a quick knit! The first one was meant to be a gift for N, however halfway into it I realized that it wasn't going to fit. He's got a ridiculously large head. Seriously huge. I even took that into account ( I thought..) and increased both size and length. Just not nearly enough, so at least I have a hat now.
I like Rory to be my model cause he's pretty much way cuter than me! This was my first project following a chart and also for colorwork; both intimidated me a ton. Actually they still do. The pattern for this was very basic and easy to follow, and hopefully will lead to more adventuresome projects!
This cowl was fun to make, mostly since there was no time to get bored. Both patterns are from Knit Simple, winter 2011 issue. I really like that magazine, almost every issue has several things tabbed for future projects. I have bitten the checkbook and won't order it. Really, though, since I'm in the grocery store at least once a week I can quick scan the racks for any new issues. Actually I like that better even though it ends up being more expensive probably. At least if there's nothing appealing I don't have to pay for the whole thing.
Weird off topic confession: Sometimes I go on Krista's blog just to listen to her playlist :O I can't help it- I like her taste in music and seriously what stations do I listen to?! I have hardly ever heard these songs before. Chalk it up to mind broadening. Thanks Krit!

Clothes, Curtains and Christmas
Yikes, so I've figured out (and you probably have too) that I will be a very erratic blogger! I can't seem to be crafty and blogging at the same time, and since the sewing machines been buzzing and the knitting needles clacking-Hey, It's only been a month...
I can't post to many pictures this time since most of the busyness is for Christmas presents, but here's a peek:)
This is a ruffled childs apron I made for Maddy a few weeks ago..

Busy-ness
Well, I have NOT been working on my to do list. But I have been cranking out the knitted projects so there. Whatever. I actually learned to knit last fall and went crazy for the first 4 months. We had yarn flying all over the house and that is literal because my little girls (4 and 3) always had to be 'hooksin' with me. And yes I know that sounds awful but they were just crochetin'. I had to buy them their own yarn since according to my husband I only like the most expensive ___________ insert yarn, fabric, paint, decor, furniture, etc; and I almost cried the first time they knotted up my beautiful Rowan. (There may have been a few new baby hormones involved here) These are my two newest items lovingly modeled by the 2 year old.
Side note-everything I make he says "Dat fo me, mama? Dat mines?" Well of course I have to make him his own 'thing', which conveniently gave me a reason to check out a new shop. And Holy Moly I am in LOVE! If you are ever in Buffalo, MN do yourselves a favor and go to Silver Creek Cabin. Huge selection of everything you could want and I can't wait to go back, by myself and spend a few hours there.
I did start a super cute hat for my Rory and will throw a picture up here as soon as it is done, or more likely, within a few months.
